DBE is a national 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization founded in 1909.
Here in Delaware we support several local charities with a focus on elder care (such as Gilpin Hall, Village volunteers and South Coastal Village volunteers in 2023).
We hold fundraisers several times a year such as volunteering at local running races, holding bake sales and selling items at flea markets.
We also share social events together such as a hayride and bonfire for Guy Fawkes Day, trips to the movies and trips to tea rooms and local gardens.
At the end of each monthly meeting, we have social time where we catch up and chat over a cup of tea or a glass of wine and enjoy mostly English goodies.
DBE members are a diverse set of dynamic women of all ages with the common bond of British or Commonwealth heritage or ancestry or the wives or partners of persons of proven British Commonwealth birth or ancestry.
There are 2 chapters currently in Delaware with a total of 27 members was well as 1 Life time Member .
Our mission is to bring women together in friendship for charitable, cultural and educational purposes.
The National Motto "Not Ourselves but the Cause" promises that the DBE will never forget our elderly and the care they need with the challenges that the later years may bring.
We welcome all prospective members! If you are in search of fellow Brits and like to help others, we would love to meet you. Please drop us an email with any questions you may have about DBE or if you would like to attend one of our monthly meetings. We look forward to hearing from you! Cheers!
